| A study released by the Environmental Working Group has found that the Big Stone Gap water supply ranks among the most contaminated in Virgina. See the EWG Report for details.
Pollutants included Aluminum, Copper, Monochloroacetic acid, Dichloroacetic acid, Trichloroacetic acid, Total haloacetic acids (HAAs), Chloroform, Bromoform, Bromodichloromethane, Dibromochloromethane, Total trihalomethanes (TTHMs), Alpha particle activity (incl. radon & uranium), Combined Uranium (mg/L), Radium-226, Radium-228, and Gross beta particle activity (pCi/L). |

"News & Announcements from the Community" is intended to be an organized community "blog" which enables all registered users to submit and self approve for posting news and announcements on a variety of topics relevant to daily life in our local region.
